General comment on data set For this LCA study, specific data (primary data) were used for processes within the Pinto plant in Polla (SA) and the Polesine plant (PR) (Core). Therefore, specific data are all the quantities of raw materials used, energy consumption, waste, and emissions concerning the shutter production cycle, data supplied directly by the company. Specific data are the distances calculated by the suppliers of the raw materials used and the means of transport used to transport them to the factory (primary data). Where generic data were used (e.g. for the schematisation of production processes associated with the various input materials), they were chosen to be representative for the area geographical area (Italy) and the reference technology. The generic data used for the calculation, i.e. the schematisations of the various products/processes within the calculation software, refer instead to databases updated in the last 10 years, as required by the PCRs. In the study, input and output data were allocated between the different processes while maintaining the principle of modularity: materials and energy flows to and from the environment are then assigned to the module in which they occur. According to the same criterion, no double counting was carried out counting for both input and output flows. The allocation criteria adopted for the LCA model comply with the reference standards (EN 15804, ISO 14044). The inventory data considered in the study represent at least 95% of the total inflows (mass and energy) to upstream processes, core processes and downstream processes.

Technological representativeness
Technology description including background system The reinforced PVC roller blind Sole 5 has a standard specific weight of approximately 5.0 kg/sqm. The reference flow equal to the weight of the product plus the weight of the packaging is 5.03 kg/sqm. The product is made of self-clinching slats (double-walled, with internal stiffening intersections and resin reinforcements) measuring 13 mm in base and 55 mm in height. The profile is equipped with a lateral 'anti-unthreading' stop that serves to block the slats. Thanks to its PVC reinforcement, the profile acquires mechanical resistance and dimensional stability by no longer requiring the application of metal reinforcements.

1This impact category deals mainly with the eventual impact of low dose ionizing radiation on human health of the nuclear fuel cycle. It does not consider effects due to possible nuclear accidents, occupational exposure nor due to radioactive waste disposal in underground facilities. Potential ionizing radiation from the soil, from radon and from some construction materials is also not measured by this indicator.
2The results of this environmental impact indicator shall be used with care as the uncertainties on these results are high or as there is limited experiences with the indicator.
