General comment 1 m3 of ready-mix concrete produced at factory gate Data have been selected to ensure the highest possible levels of accuracy, completeness, representativeness and consistency, in accordance with EN 15804:2012+A2:2019/AC:2021 and UNI EN 15941:2024. LCA studies are primarily based on company specific data collected directly from the manufacturer through the compilation of data collection questionnaires, and verified for completeness and consistency. Where specific data are unavailable, high-quality generic data from recognized LCA databases (e.g. Ecoinvent), literature or verified EPDs are used. The generic data used satisfy the data quality characteristics required by the Program Operator Regulations and the reference PCRs and can come from site-specific sources or average data. Estimates and proxy data are minimized and justified. Product specific data include raw material consumption, transport distances, energy use, emissions, water consumption and waste generation. "EN 15804:2012+A2:2019/AC:2021 allocation rules have been adopted. Allocation was avoided wherever possible and applied only when disaggregated measured data were unavailable. Environmental impacts were assigned using the cut-off approach and the polluter pays principle, allocating impacts to the life cycle stage where they occur. For virgin raw materials, both the impacts associated with the materials themselves and those associated with the related production processes were considered. Waste treatment impacts are included within the system boundaries, while recycled outputs are considered up to the End-of-Waste stage. Secondary input materials are treated as burden-free, accounting only for recovery processes after the End-of-Waste stage. Some impacts of the production plant (e.g., electricity, water and diesel consumption) have been allocated among the outputs of the 2025 production based on physical properties." Capital goods, infrastructure and employee commuting were excluded from the assessment. The cut-off criteria defined in EN 15804:2012+A2:2019/AC:2021 were applied, ensuring that excluded mass and energy flows do not exceed 1% of the total system inputs.
